It's no secret that bachelorette parties have become a cultural phenomenon. From trips to Nash-Vegas to wine tours, these events have become a staple in many women's social calendar. There's one recent growing trend of putting Venmo usernames on the back of cars during bachelorette road-trips.
First of all it's kind of obnoxious. I get it, you're excited for your bachelorette party, and you want to have a good time with your friends, but there's no need to plaster your venmo on a moving billboard flying down the highway. It's not like you're running a charity or anything. If someone wants to buy you a drink I'm sure they'll realize you're celebrating from the customized sash, matching outfits, and group of girls yelling "she's getting married who's going to buy her last drink as a single women" at every misfortune bar they encounter that extended weekend.
Okay, maybe that was pretty harsh. Let's say it's all on the best of spirits and you're thinking "hey maybe this will be a funny story and we can meet some generous strangers along the way". Are we on the same page? So where does the part come in where every girl in the bachelorette party takes a picture of this sign and blasts it on all their social medias "Venmo us for gas lol" "Kayla's bride tribe blackout please contribute" give it a break. Sure one or two girls may have went viral with it and pocketed an absurd amount of overflow but it's a pretty sad attempt at a cashgrab here girls, at least the guy sitting on the street corner has a full drum solo and 45 minute stand up act lined up when begging for change from strangers.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a good bachelorette party, but let's leave the panhandling at home. And to all the girls out there who continue to do this, just remember, if you have to beg for money to fund your trip, maybe you should be rethinking that week long destination bachelorette party. Thanks for listening to my bitching, Cheers!
