If you're like me, you've spent most of your life chasing after success. And what's the most common definition of success? You guessed it: money. But as I've grown older (and wiser, or so I like to think), I've come to realize that maybe money isn't everything.
Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty darn important. But there are other things in life that are just as important, like grabbing a cold beer and grilling out with some close friends, or getting back into that old hobby you've been procrastinating.
But seriously, let's talk about success. In the past, success was all about climbing the corporate ladder, buying a fancy car, and having a big house with a white picket fence. But now, success means different things to different people. For some, it's about being able to work from anywhere in the world and having the freedom to travel. For others, it's about pursuing their passions and doing work that makes them feel fulfilled. And for some, it's just about having enough money to buy a really good burrito. (I'm looking at you Chipotle)
The truth is, success is no longer a one-size-fits-all concept. We all have different priorities, values, and dreams. And that's okay! It's important to define success for ourselves and not let society or anyone else dictate what it should look like. Let's be honest the older you become the more you realize just how much the world around you is held together by poorly structured financing and people's poor financial decisions. People you think are "happy & successful" may very well be just putting on a face drowning in their 2nd mortgage.
Of course, money is still a big part of the equation. After all, we need it to pay the rent, buy groceries, and treat ourselves to the occasional avocado toast. But we don't have to let it consume us. We can prioritize our happiness, our relationships, and our well-being alongside our financial goals.
So, the next time you're stressing about your bank account balance or comparing yourself to your rich friend who's whipping a Tesla, remember that success isn't just about the dollars in your pocket. It's about living a life that makes your happiness, laughter, and the memories you make.
