College is a time for experimentation and discovery, especially when it comes to alcohol. And over the years, college students have come up with some truly bizarre and outrageous ways to consume their adult beverages. Here are some of the weirdest drinking fads to ever hit college campuses:
Four Loko - This caffeine and alcohol-infused energy drink was a staple of college parties in the early 2010s, until it was banned in several states for its dangerous side effects. But for a brief moment in time, Four Loko was the drink of choice for many students looking to get their caffeine and booze fix in one convenient can.
Borg - One of the the newest fads to hit go college scene. This mixture involves people grabbing a gallon of water and once half empty taking that and pouring in vodka and flavoring (Mio,etc...). A great trend as it allows the security of a closed container but also the convenience of being portable. Cheers to this new generation of innovative individuals!
Butt Chugging - Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. This highly dangerous trend involves inserting alcohol directly into one's rectum, which can lead to alcohol poisoning and other serious health problems. It's definitely not recommended, and is thankfully not as popular as it once was and was a very, very, short lived trend.
40 Hands - This game involves taping two 40-ounce bottles of malt liquor to your hands and not being able to remove them until you finish both. It's a test of endurance and willpower, but also probably not the best idea if you need to use the restroom.
Power Hour - In this drinking game, participants take a shot of beer every minute for an hour. It's a recipe for getting very drunk very quickly, but also great if you need your drywall redecorate with some new holes. Pro-Tip: que up premade soundtracks on YouTube, they have them where songs change every minute so you can just listen instead of watching the clock!
Thunderstruck - This game involves playing AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" and taking a shot of beer every time the word "thunder" is sung. It's a high-energy game that's sure to get everyone pumped up, as the years have progressed this age old tradition is starting to ween itself out of college culture but still does live on in the geriatric population that will surely have a glimpse of hope in their eyes of the golden days anytime they hear this song pop on daytime radio.
These are just a few of the many weird and wild drinking fads that have made their way through college campuses over the years. We look forward to seeing what the next generations have in store for us to watch!
