We've all been there - stumbling back from the purgatory that's a long day of drinking resulting in blacking out, caught in a foggy haze, and somehow finding ourselves face to face with that one last beer at the end of the night. It's like a challenge, as if this beer had just insulted your mother, as we debate whether to keep walking that fine line of debauchery or call it a night it's as if the decision has already been made for us.
The Temptation:
You're standing in front of the fridge, swaying slightly as you contemplate the last beer. It's like a sirens call or an event that gives away free sunglasses, irresistible. You know, you should call it a night maybe empty out the brita so you can give your roomate a fun job to get the morning started, but the allure of that cold, crisp brew is irresistible. You fight with your inner demons,. Cracking open that last can with a smirk on your face as you take that first last sip, pleased with your own stupidity.
Fumbling the bag:
As you crack open that last beer, you realize that the struggle is real. It's like this bottle doesn't realize just how bad of a day it is to be a beer. But your motor skills are failing you, and simple tasks like opening a bottle cap or pouring a glass become as difficult as calculus. You fumble, spill, and make a mess, but you push forward with that one goal in mind.
Fun or A Chore?
With that last beer in hand, you realize that it's not about the destination (bed) it's about the journey (listening to your friends drunkly rant in your room as you said well I think I'm heading to bed 6 times). You take your time, savoring each sip as bullshit comes and goes from everyone's mouths. All of a sudden as you continue to sip on that last beer, you realize that time has taken on a whole new meaning. What feels like minutes turns into hours as you relive what pieces you can put together of the night.
